This smart switch is designed to work in a 3-way circuit, allowing you to control a light from one or two locations, commonly found in living rooms, hallways, and stairways. However, it is not compatible with dimming or fans.

Regarding the wireless connectivity, the switch supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, but it does not require a gateway. It does not, however, support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
